Biography

In summer 2008, Babak Hazrati (song writer/guitar player) and Dan Ross (drummer) started to work on Babak’s Demo material. In the beginning it was all instrumental music. After six months they felt comfortable enough to ask Andrew Newton (who is a great drummer) as a bass player to join the band. Andrew liked the material and very soon the trio started so sound very close to the original demos. Babak decided to put a story behind the album so he wrote lyrics for some of the songs. In summer 2009, guitarist Daniel Zbtovsky (who is a pianist as well) decided to complete the missing part of the band and joined as keyboard player. Soon the band was named “Black Gold Victim”. Black Gold Victim is a progressive rock band with some middle eastern influences. BGV has performed various clubs and venues in Vancouver such as Purple Crab and in February 2010 at the Plaza of Nations for the Olympics. The DVD of the performance is coming soon. Right now the band has started to record the material after one year of gigging and rehearsing with the engineer Travis Box.

It is live recording with a 2x8 channel input digimax board and on a mac computer with protools and an awesome engineer (stu will), thats why it is a high quality recording. the ones you've heard is only a rough mix just to make it for the supernova website. the actual mix and mastering is for our DVD.

Hey. Good to hear you're taking vocal coaching. That should help a lot. So did you do the recording live or did you do that on your own? Just curious. Recording is a hobby of mine....well, I actually spent a bit of money on that hobby.

Thanks for the comment and your interest. I love King Crimson and they are one of my ideals. Currently I'm working on my voice with an expert, so good luck to me! lol!

Great groove. Sounds like killers was recorded pretty well live. No dubs. Really like the style though. Reminds me of King Crimson a bit. Maybe ELP though you don't sound like either. Personally, I think you would do better with a dedicated vocalist but that's just my opinion.
