"its not like frist prize was 5 guitars 12 amps and a recording studio" (johnyjacket Posted: Nov 18/08 - 05:34 PM)The core of the issue is that TBA got disqualified for dropping a mic and the band that came in second did the same thing but they obviously were not treated in the same manner. People are pissed because supernova needs to reasses their politics--or whatever the case may be. (perhaps getting some new judges?)Anyway, Im sick of these posts. this is the posts to end all posts on the subject. so quit it. thanks.

Wow, I guess I left the venue before all this happened. But I agree with EGB, there's no reason to get so updet. There'll be plenty of other shows that TBA will perform at and win First Prize in, so I think we should consider this as simply a lesson learned. The facts are facts, so many people dropped the mic, fine, who cares. Just learn what the problem was, fix it next time and get on with your life instead of bitching about it.

i really dont see why every1 here is getting so pissed, sundown won, who cares, this is one show were talking about? and oh wow 3 song demo and 100 cds, im sure that band will use it but lets get real, its not like frist prize was 5 guitars 12 amps and a recording studio. If ur band didnt win then thats unfortunate but im sure ur going to have more shows. And watever man ur playing a live show, crazy stuff is bound to happen right?

I'm guessing all of you are TBA fans?Don't say the rest of the bands sucked when you might have not seen them all.The winner played at 8:40 and TBA played at 11:30 are you telling me you stayed the whole time?Sundown did a great job and they worked hard to perform those originals that they created.Congratulations Sundown for winning! You guys were sick!

With out the need to swear, fling insult's or offer any negativity towards supernova or the venue itself, I'd like to offer some constructive criticism regarding the event's that occurred. Case in fact, both band's had dropped the microphone, however the venues property incurred no damages which is fortunate. Those involved, the public's obvious 'out cry' and from what I've read in part, Supernova itself seem's disappointed in TBA's disqualification. As it stands it should be Supernova's decision weather or not a band won, this shouldn't have anything to do with a venue's decision to revoke a band's welcome. One question I do have is if The Bop had asked each band to sign waivers to ensure no damage would be done to their property, or if band's were talked to individually or as a whole regarding dropping of mics or what not. All in all it's abundantly clear both band's dropped the mic, and there after the equipment still worked. Once again, it should be supernovas decision and not the venue. The venue can say that the band is not welcome to play there again, however case in point with a band doing as well as TBA, and Supernova from again, what I've read seemingly to enjoy them best, should state them as the first place winner. Either that or revoke both TBA and OTO's placement and find another to name as first place. Another idea would to grant TBA as the over all winners and discuss charging them mic replacement fee's, (keep in mind since it's an older used microphone, paying charges of just that and not a brand new one)or reduce their prize to 75 CD's or what not. This for sure is an unfortunate event, once more however, a battle of the band's is just that and not a battle of venue's property. One has nothing to do with the other.
